1) Be Consistent

Many people start reading the Bible with excitement, but become discouraged when they miss a day or struggle to understand something.

Remember:

You do not have to be “perfect.”

Spiritual growth happens through consistency, not perfection.

Just as physical health grows through regular habits, spiritual growth develops through regularly spending time with God.

Some days you may read a lot.

Other days you may only read a few verses.

What matters most is continuing to come back and spend time with Him.

Scripture says:

"Come near to God, and he will come near to you." (James 4:8)

God honors a heart that seeks Him.

Reflection

  • What usually makes it difficult for you to stay consistent with something?

  • What is one realistic way you could make spending time in God's Word part of your regular routine?

2) A Simple Bible Reading Method

When reading Scripture, try using these four simple questions:

  • What does this passage say?

Summarize what you just read.

  • What does this passage teach me about God?

Look for God's character, actions, and promises.

  • What does this passage teach me about myself?

Consider how it relates to your thoughts, attitudes, choices, or circumstances.

  • What should I do because of what I learned?

Identify one practical step you can take today.

This simple process helps move Scripture from information to transformation.

Reflection

  • Which of these four questions do you think will help you most when reading Scripture?

  • What is one practical step you could take today based on something you have learned from God's Word?

3) The Bible in Your Life

As you consistently read God's Word, you may begin to notice:

  • Greater peace during difficult seasons

  • More wisdom in your decisions

  • Increased understanding of God

  • Personal growth and transformation

  • A stronger relationship with Jesus

  • Greater confidence in your faith

God often works through small, consistent moments spent in His Word.

Reflection

  • Which of these changes would you most like to experience in your own life?

  • What would becoming more consistent in God's Word look like for you?

4) Why This Matters

Because the Bible is:

God's Word → It reveals His truth and character

Personal → God can speak to your life through it

Practical → It provides guidance for everyday living

Transformative → It helps you grow and change from the inside out

You do not have to have all the answers before you begin reading the Bible.

You simply need to take the first step.

God desires to meet you where you are and guide you as you learn to know Him more.

Reflection

  • What is one thing you want to remember from this lesson?

  • What is one first step you can take to begin or strengthen your time in God's Word?

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for meeting me exactly where I am. Thank You that I do not have to know everything, understand everything, or be perfect before I can begin seeking You through Your Word.

Help me build a consistent habit of spending time with You. When I miss a day, help me not become discouraged. When I do not understand something, help me keep learning. Remind me that spiritual growth happens through consistency, not perfection.

Give me a hunger for Your Word. Help me discover Your character, understand Your truth, recognize Your promises, and grow closer to Jesus.

Use Scripture to give me peace when life is difficult, wisdom when I have decisions to make, strength when I feel weak, and direction when I do not know where to go.

Help me take the first step and continue coming back to You each day.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
