The Purpose of Life
1) Loving Others Is One of the Greatest Marks of a Christian
Jesus never said people would recognize His followers by their knowledge, talents, or accomplishments.
Instead, He said they would recognize His followers by their love.
This includes loving people who are easy to love—and those who are difficult to love.
It means showing compassion, extending forgiveness, serving others, and treating every person with dignity because each person is made in the image of God.
Jesus said:
"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:35)
Love is one of the clearest ways we reflect Jesus to the world.

Who is someone in my life that God may be calling me to love, forgive, encourage, or serve more intentionally?
2) Living With Purpose
God has created every person with unique gifts, talents, and opportunities.
Living for Christ means recognizing that every area of life matters.
Whether you're working, raising a family, studying, volunteering, or helping a neighbor, your life can glorify God.
You don't have to become a pastor or missionary to make a difference.
God often works through ordinary people faithfully living ordinary lives with extraordinary love.
Scripture reminds us:
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord." (Colossians 3:23)
Every act of kindness, honesty, generosity, and service becomes an opportunity to honor Him.

What is one ordinary part of my life where I can begin intentionally living with greater purpose for God?
3) Living One Day at a Time
Many people worry that following Jesus means they have to figure everything out immediately.
Thankfully, God doesn't expect perfection overnight.
The Christian life is a journey.
Each day brings new opportunities to learn, grow, trust, and become more like Christ.
God's grace meets us every step of the way.
Rather than asking,
"How do I become a perfect Christian?"
perhaps a better question is,
"How can I faithfully follow Jesus today?"
Small, faithful steps often lead to lifelong transformation.

4) Responding to Today's Lesson
Living for Christ isn't about pretending to have everything together.
It's about allowing Jesus to shape every part of your life.
As you reflect today, consider:
What area of my daily life is easiest to invite God into?
What area is hardest?
How can I better reflect Jesus in my relationships?
What is one practical way I can love someone this week?
How can I live with greater purpose in my everyday life?

Looking at these questions, what is the one area God is placing on my heart most strongly right now?
5) Why This Matters
Living for Christ is:
Practical → It influences how we live every day.
Relational → It changes how we love God and others.
Purposeful → Every part of life has meaning.
Transformational → God changes us over time.
Hope-filled → We never walk through life alone.
Following Jesus isn't about escaping the world.
It's about living in it differently—bringing hope, compassion, integrity, and love wherever God has placed us.
6) God's Promises to Remember
God promises that His grace is enough.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9)
God promises to give you strength.
"I can do all this through him who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:13)
God promises to direct your path.
"In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:6)
God promises that your life can make a difference.
"And let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Galatians 6:9)
You don't have to change everything at once. God is inviting you to take the next faithful step with Him.
Closing Prayer
God, thank You for giving my life purpose and for inviting me to live each day with You. Help me love others the way Jesus loves me. Give me opportunities to serve, encourage, forgive, and show kindness to the people around me. Help me recognize that even the ordinary things I do can honor You. When I feel overwhelmed about the future, remind me to take life one day at a time. Give me strength to take the next faithful step and trust that You are working in my life. Help my life reflect Your love, hope, compassion, and truth wherever You have placed me.
